Shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday night, a sergeant was traveling on Richmond Highway when he spotted a vehicle with an expired registration, prompting an attempted traffic stop, though the driver continued to slow roll onto Bells Hill Road and Oak Drive before eventually pulling over.
During the stop, officials say that Morales showed signs of intoxication and her vehicle had an inspection sticker that expired in 2022.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, Morales advised that she consumed “some” alcohol before getting behind the wheel because she “usually” drinks before getting home, which she advised was “two weeks” away.
It would not take two weeks to conduct field sobriety tests.
It was determined that Morales was under the influence, and during a search of her vehicle, several empty or near-empty bottles of liquor were recovered.
Further investigation found that Morales was charged for a previous DUI offense a month ago.
Morales was charged with:
- Driving under the influence second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content above .2;
- Drinking while driving;
- Having an expired inspection and registration.
She is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
